Remembering Gordon Bailey
Gordon lived an extraordinary performing life and left an enduring mark on the education and professional development of Christmas performers.
Gordon’s love of character performance began in second grade. Across his life he portrayed Santa, magicians, wizards, clowns, ogres, the Tooth Fairy, and other characters while also working as a balloon artist and face and body painter.
He created the Santa and the Business of Being Santa School, built around trained lecturers and three comprehensive workbooks covering performance and management skills for Christmas performers.
Gordon lectured at the International University of Santa Claus, Discover Santa, FORBS gatherings, and other professional events. He also belonged to AORBS, FORBS, IBRBS, and the Magic Castle and contributed writing to the Magic Castle Library.
The International Santa Claus Hall of Fame inducted Gordon in 2019, recognizing a legacy that continues through the performers he educated and encouraged.
