In Loving Memory of Gregory “Greg” Hrehocik — Santa G
Gregory “Greg” Hrehocik of Vermilion, Ohio passed away in April 2026, leaving behind a legacy defined not by words, but by quiet dedication, steady love, and a heart that found its brightest expression in the red suit.
Known to many as Santa G, Greg was a real-bearded Santa who gave everything he had to the role—100% to every child, every family, every moment. Whether visiting homes, lighting town trees, walking in parades, or bringing joy to community events across Northern Ohio, Greg approached each opportunity with sincerity and purpose.
Those who knew him understood that Greg was not one to seek attention. He was a provider, a man who worked tirelessly for his family, showing his love through action and commitment. He built a life centered on caring for others—his wife of 38 years, Charlotte, his children, his grandchildren, and a wide circle of friends who knew they could always count on him.
But there was something special that happened when Greg became Santa.
As Charlotte so beautifully shared, though he was quiet by nature, when he put on the suit, his eyes truly did twinkle. It was a transformation that could not be taught. It could only come from within. Greg had a rare and beautiful gift—the ability to bring pure joy to children. In those moments, he wasn’t playing a role. He was Santa.
Families felt it. Communities saw it. At events like Light Up Norwalk, lines stretched longer than anyone expected—families waiting patiently, sometimes over an hour, just for a few moments with Santa Greg. Not because they had to… but because they wanted to. Because they knew it would be worth it.
Greg was part of the Ohio Santas community and attended the inaugural Master Claus Academy 2024, joining others committed to growing in the craft and honoring the role of Santa Claus. He stood among peers not to stand out, but simply to be part of something meaningful.
He loved deeply—his family, his friends, the simple joys of life, and yes… even the laughter found in chasing chickens in his pajamas or sharing stories around a campsite. Those moments, big and small, painted the picture of a life fully lived.
Greg is survived by his beloved wife Charlotte, his children, grandchildren, and a lifetime of friendships that never wavered, no matter the distance or time between conversations.
And while his sleigh has taken its final ride…
the magic he gave does not leave with him.
It remains in the children who believed a little stronger because of him.
In the families who will tell stories of “their Santa” for years to come.
And in the hearts of those of us who understand what it truly means to wear the suit.
Rest easy, Santa G.
You gave everything you had to the role… and it showed.
